I get a lot of vibration under breaking, so I'm assuming my discs are warped, is there a way to double check my prediction without the use of a gauge or specific tools?

 

Easy, jack up car and spin wheel, you will feel and see it stop on any tight(warped) spot.

I can see a S2 rolling off a jack down my driveway by doing that!

 

Why?

He means spin the wheel that is off the ground, and you will see resistance (possibly warped spot of the disc)

Sorry i'm used to driving a rwd capri, and that was on the front, I just assumed (for some odd reason) that the handbrake worked on the wheels that didn't drive the vehicle. Dumb!

 

NO, 99% of handbrakes on the rear, as with CAPRI's, of all ages, defo on the rear.
With rear discs some are internal, inside the drum part of the disc, some(most) external mechanical on disc like normal caliper.
Citroen's way more advanced than fords, and pretty much all others, of thie time, so that is why they were different.

some saabs have the handbrake on the front wheels too

if its not the discs it can also be a bush or a ball joint out

Got my new set of 283 cossie discs today, put em straight on and the juddering has stopped. Woo!

i suppose the others are more popular

 

They were run out again so again I kept the receipt, so will get them eventually!!
