in your header tank, mine seems to be squirting water out the header tank via the cap,im hoping its not the head gasket. any ideas?

I would think around 20 PSI absolute max, i would think there is a pressure rating on the cap somewhere, more likely to be around 15 psi. Get your local garage to poke their gas tester in the header tank with the car running to see if it sniffs exhaust gases in there.

Had that a couple years ago, i went back to the chap who sold my that alloy headertank. (which i only had fitted for a week) Told him his cap was a cheesy one. Without blinking he gave me a new one, but adviced me to have the engine checked. Turned out it was indeed the headgasket

Default how much

I would say the rubber seal in the cap is gone, had this one before on a new engine build and cap was at fault put a little drop of oil on the new cap rubber and it should last a little bit longer alloy tanks seam to heat the rubber and make it pesrish

How high is the level when cold ?
I had a mondy whose level would settle about 1 1/2" BELOW the minimum all the time, topping up it just got rid of "extra" so just left it so I could see it 1 1/2" below min and it was fine, sold it to my dad told him NOT to top up so he tops up to the BRIM, one headgasket and plenty of arguments later the headgasket is fixed.
I would look at the cap seal first, if only because it is easier/cheaper.

its a ally header tank, i been filling water up to somewhere near max then its been spitting water out, to near the bottem. was going to keep an eye on it to see if it gets any lower.

i have an escort van and have swapped the cap with that, and its still the same.so i'll get a sniff test done!
