That's what I thought, but when I went they did a static test on each car as we arrived and if you were borderline on that then one of the instructors drove your car past the noise meter at full chat

Impossible limits will keep most cars away Sad but true.

Nov 17th @ Oulton Park (Cheshires finest) is better value at Ł99 too

I DO sympathise.... AND think noise limits are a pain in the arse BUT my 600bhp+ Sierra will be there as will alot of other cars, So to say 'impossible limits and most cars' is WRONG and VERY unfair

I'll be there, but only in my trusty BM!

Bedford is the best track in the UK in my opinion. fast, wide and not a lot to hit. Deffo a must in your track day life!!!!

Will also be there for extensive beer the night before and after (Beer on the night after only)

Sean..

Porkie its NOT wrong for N/A cars. Turbo'd cars are by their nature much quieter.

Im not bitter about it in any way, we live by rules in the sport, and if it helps the venue survive then thats fine

If I wanted to go I could go in the Vectra, which would be about 65dB, but NO fun at all.

Porkie, why is it unfair to be honest.. ?

87 is VERY low, its not like its 11 levesl less is it, as its logrithmic (as at any other track)

Your 3 door is no quieter than mine, so what are you going to do to sort the noise level out, being serious as it might be an option.

Just been readin up on this to make sure i understood it....

approx 3db is double the noise level.

so @ normal track days its 98db so 95 would be half the noise level, 92 half again, 89 half again etc....

and the noise level drops about 1-2db over 20-30m so if you use dono as an example, i really cannot see how you can do it....

Also found that the average city drive by is 88-90db....

I am really confused to why bedford is so low, is it measured wearing tights over the mike or somert ?

I presume this is at Bedford Autodrome? How do I get an invite to come and watch as I only live down the road. Would love to take my mk2 estate round the track but

A: I'd get laughed at (a lot)

B: I don't fancy getting in the way of a 600bhp cossy coming up behind me!

Is this just a Ford day out or are Redline inviting anyone bcos my mates just built himself a 233 bhp N/A nova and it does do the business so to speak, I know he's craving to have it round a track b4 he gets banned again!

Thats fair enough, but they have 300bhp STUPIDLY fast N/A Jag JP1's screaming around.. so the noise limits aren't impossible. Caterham struggle to shut up the R500 Evos BUT they can and do for Bedford...

I REALLY sympathise and hate noise limits as much as anyone else. I thought that ND at Donno was soooooooooo much better with noise limits.

Dingy, I've never failed a noise test YET... I will be absolutely GUTTED if I can't run at Bedford. BUT will do everything to shut the car up enough and will try to re-engineer the car to sort the problem if neccessary!
