Default Current Fuel Price Situation...

Fortunately I don't do many miles as I commute by train for work..

but today I filled the tank up at £1.07 a litre.. price has jumped right up!! A few years back, when the prices crept to the pound mark, we had blockages, protest's the lot..! Has come's its just been accepted and we pay it. Admitably, I've done no campaigning etc, but surely its about time that something IS done..! I'm aware that the price of oil has rose rapidly, but surely with the amount of % going to the government in tax, can't this be reduced to compansate the rise..!?

I'm sure its not as easy as that.. but general living expenses seem to be shooting up..!!

I thought the country was gonna be brought to a standstill once it hit £5 a gallon?
Maybe that's been put back until it's £5 a litre....

118.9 p a litre for Diesel in Bath now! (super is about the same)
I'm sure its not the most expensive place in the country... but thats pretty steep compared to 3 years ago!

im self employed too doing vehicle movements and the recent price increases have made a big difference to my profits.
Everyone knows the cost of fuel but customers dont want to pay anymore to get their cars moved about so i have to swallow the losses or have no work!!!!!!!!

Gordon Brown will tear you a new asshole for using red.. much better off and safer on the veg oil.

I saw on the money program last week that an individual is allowed to 'refine' 2500 litres of veg oil per year tax free.

Now thats refining old shit from the chip shop...

But what about sticking in new clean oil from the cash 'n' carry !

If I went to my local Tesco's would they question why I was buying such a large bulk of oil though? Guess if it is legal, they can't say fook all...

So who is going to statrt a blockade then...? I would, but due to work commitments I can't at the moment.. lol

it cost me £50 to fill up 3/4 of the focus' fuel tank as it had just under 1/4 left. That means a total fillup is roughly £65-£70

114.9

If any proper protests get done then to be honest I'd be happy to take part

Just buy it from your local Costco or Bookers, you can get the big catering drums, then weigh in the empty drums... its win win

You do have to be careful with modern diesels not liking the gloopyness of veg oil, but you can get a conversion kit that pre-warms the oil etc

definately tempting to get a cheapo diesel as a round about to and from the train station...

kind off defeating the point though of "standing up against recent fuel hikes.."..

Hope your well Neil.. long time no see!

I dont do it always mate. Once in a while I might feel like putting V-Power in it for the cleanliness. I also use a wynns fuel cleaning agent as well so just thought id fill it up on that and let it work its way through and go back to normal thats all.

However, there is an Esso that I know of near me as well that sells its super 97RON for 108 which is near enough normal unleaded price.

you can't really moan then if your willing to pay 1.14 for the cleanliness lol.. when its not necessary.... as opposed to the 1.07..

Something really needs to be done about these prices.. its ridiculous.. cost me 2 quid to fill the moped up in Thailand.. lol

i must admit i dont get why nothing has happened like about 8yrs ago was it with the fuel strike? when it went from something stupid like 79p to 81p or something and everyone was getting the arse then.

But now its going well over a £1 everyone seems to moan if not more about it but nothing has happened or planned to have happened.

anyone know why its not kicked off like it did before?

$3.79 a gallon here in Washington state. It’s still cheaper than the UK but it has almost doubled since I’ve been in the US (about 4 years).

1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres

$1 per litre

$1 = 0.50 gbp

I think thats correct.

I didnt watch it so I couldnt tell you but its someone that told me about the hike and why it will be so. Cant remember the reason or how he knows but he said it will be about £1.50 coming up to over coming months. How long that is I dont know but I can pretty much guarantee it will.

I think the only way peopel will make a stand is if they hit us with a big hike in one go. Its been going up 2p,3p 5p etc etc slowly slowly so people arent getting off their arses to complain. If it hikes up in one huge lump then people I reckon would be mroe inclined to do something.

£1.5 is a bit of a stretch. Oil the last few days as been the highest it's ever been but I can't see it pushing petrol to £1.50

To be honest I think they are adding it just for the fun of it now to see how much they can get away with.

The country wont run itself. Tax is a must get used to it and shut up about tax. What needs to be done is fule companies profits capped to be able to trade in this country as it fucking stinks what they make! How many billion did shell make? And such as British Gas saying the cost must go up, then report a 571 million profit! its this that stinks not the fact that the government Tax us....its here to stay! If they drop fuel tax theyll get it from somewhere else!

Why?

British companies that employ British people - why would you want to cap their profits, especially when hardly any of their profit comes from the petrol stations.

As for the British Gas profit, the same also applies. That's a pre-tax profit figure, and a large percentage of the profit comes from exploration and company consolidation. In fact, British Gas actually makes a loss with domestic customers over the six month period including the summer.
