84% downloaded....

My problems either stem from having a self built PC as Vista can be a little funny with older hardware, or the fact that I got Vista very first week of release and had to set a lot of my system up with XP drivers at the time.

If it's still knackered after this I'll get round to rebuilding it soon!

my pc can easily run vista,i had ultimate on it and got a system rating of 4.9 or 5 one of the two, run fine but the sound is better on xp(if you dont have decent speakers/sound card you wont notice the difference) and also my webcam doesnt work properly and the nice new £20 logitech one i got works but its like all white and no colour, couldnt be arsed with it so went back to xp where everything works

A service pack is like a giant update of lots of different files that address different issues, like security improvements, driver improvement, speed improvement etc.

xp sp3 is only available as release candidate 2 as far im aware

not sure about vista sp1, but i was running vista, but due to various blue screen issues ive given up with it. I put xp pro on, and before all updates had installed i got a blue screen (a system file or something), but apart from that 1 hiccup runs as sweet as a nut

Got a copy of xp mce 2005 waiting to go on, but need to clarify a few thing first before installing, plus i cannot be bothered at this time

If you bought a new machine with it pre installed by a company it has to be ok otherwise people would be taking them back.
People who get problems are people who use the pc for hardcore gaming and computers with older hardware inside them.

i have a tv card and a media center keyboard and remote so its kind of pointless having them if you cant use them properly. I downloaded something called media portal to use instead and its shocking lol
