Default A drop in CR

I have just had to drop my CR from 9.1:1 down to 7.9:1 due to headgasket supply and deeper valve pockets in the pistons.

So driving it feels slow! gone has the super quick response, and it now doesnt pull smoothly, there are steps in the power band, and it doesnt wheelspin in 6th anymore.

However it is still on its high CR ignition map! will be remapping which will remove the steps.

Boost has fell by 1psi and EGT has fell 50 deg C.

No other changes to the car.

Simon.

Report back when the ignition as been put back in, along with the more boost that you can now run .

You should find an even greater reduction in EGTs .

Si...if i told you what my CR was you would not believe me.

Low comp or in my case VERY low comp does NOT have to make a bad driving car.

Have a play about and see what I mean!

wouldnt increasing the power of your ignition system be a good place to start?

ive gone from 7.3 to 8.4, and it's no more responsive at all - lots of ignition had to come out. Be interesting to see what yours is like with the added lead.

Did a bit of mapping tonight. Only ignition.

Added 5 deg of advance across all load and rpms ranges.

Result almost removed all steps in power but saw a decrease of 40 deg C in EGT.

Had to stop as snowing again.

Who would have thought it?

Given the large drop in c/r, I would have thought that it would take some more ignition, but I would put some boost into it first (the amount you want to run) and then see what you can get away with ignition wise .

Agreed it will take more ignition.

However I am gaining info on ign, EGT, CR at the moment when I finish then will do more maping with more boost.

Si wish you could mess around with all this on the rollers as you would see what happens to the power when you make these changes.

Its always very interesting!

The comp ratio is in the map on autronic, so he will do if he has ever helped with your mapping.

Not that it matters

Rich, Rod has already informed me that we are stuck in the 80's fro running low comp and using T4's so you can see what I mean.

Doesnt matter if the car runs 188 mph in the wet with a fucked headgasket or not its not in fashion so it will never work!

Yip euan filling up at the petrol station must be slightly less annoying than paying for rocket fuel, filling and checking your nos and nitrogen and then having to check the water/methanol mix in your water injection.
