Cant beat 1080p panasonic viera for the price in my opinion. I bought the aquos 50inch 1080p as it was extremely cheap and i have nothing but good things to say about but if i had my time again id probably raise the extra cash and go with a viera.
think it might be tough to get 1080p for £800
Viera in a 50 inch is about 2 grand without the stand.

I've got a 50" Sony Bravia 1080p LCD and I love it!
It was about £1400 in a sale from over £2k last year. I bet you can probably get them cheaper somewhere now though, but it's faultless. Works a treat with Sky HD, XBOX 360, PS3 and Blu-Ray player. Couldn't go back now, anything smaller just looks tiny in comparison now

A 50inch bravia 1080p for only £1400 last year when 1080p was just hitting mainstream.
God thats cheap.
you sure thats putting out 1080p and not just accepting it....
Whats the model number mate.

I'll let you know when I get home, no idea off the top of my head
well it comes up 1080p on the screen when you have something inputting 1080p. You can also set it to 1080i as well whatever that means. And if you have something that's 720p etc, it'll come up with that in the corner

I have a 37" Sharp Aquos 1080p, had it for a while now - great picture and sound. Works perfectly with my media centre. Sometimes wish it was a bit bigger but in all honesty it is probably the perfect size for my lounge setup at the moment.
I'll find out the model number, but it definitely says 1080p in the corner when I turn on the PS3 with HDMI lead or the 360
My living room is pretty small and the 50" seemed to dominate it at 1st, but it just looks normal now. If I watch my 32" in my bedroom, I find myself squinting, lol. That used to look really big before big, but it's tiny now
eBay can be pretty good if you spot out the best deals and avoid the scams. I got mine from a company that supply to schools etc. They listed the tv's with 10 available all brand new and boxed etc, I made a stupidly low offer and it got accepted. I had to spend the next two days wondering if I had been scammed or not but it turned up and was perfect!
i got a 40 inch samsung lcd, with a nice black glass stand and sony home cinema system for 800 in the sales.
im happy with it and my mate has a similar one that he is also happy with.
they look much bigger when u get them home compared to when they are in the shop all lined up.
but u soon get used to it and like said above i dont think i could go back to anything smaller now

he is right. Panasonic great Tvs for the money.
If you are feeling flush then get Pioneer. They are the best.
It's a KDF50E2010 that I have. It says it supports 1080i and 1080p, but is not 1080p24 compatible, whatever that means, lol
All I know is that it's class and on pricerunner it says you can get one for £800 now

Chris
but the colour on a lcd is nowhere near as good, plus my pioneer cuts to a screensaver "Kuro thingie" on a still screen that is left too long
where does it say its 1080p all the info I can find says its 720p/1080i
then there was another one that says 1080p24 compatible and it says no
All I know is when you tinker with the settings on the remote when running PS3, 360 or blu-ray it says 1080p, 1080i, 720p or 480 (I think)p
don't really know what it all means tbh, but the picture is very clear. Even on 720p it's good, but on 1080i or p (which both look the same to me), it's most noticeable when things are moving fast
and yeah, it's rear projection, so can't go flat on an wall. The back of mine fits nicely in the gap under the stairs though
I've just got a Panasonic Viera 50'' Plasma, 1080i/p
Wall mounted the lot, got a tilt bracket plus a shit hot Syberdyne (sp) HDMI cable, all for around £800!

Picture is simply stunning! Easy to use, and the Xbox in HD looks mental!

As they fucked the order up Chris, wouldn't recommend the company mate, yes, fucking cheap and looks the tits but went through alot of hassle to get it in the end!
Although, now all said and done it's on the wall and i'm chuffed as fuck, can't keep off Forza 2 on Xbox live!

just got our new plasma after our 42" LG blew up about 6 weeks ago
Curry's coverplan paid out £1100 and we put another £400 to it and bought a 50" Panasonic viera 1080p. To be honest, i've not messed with it a great deal yet but some programs look a little poor but SKY HD is awesome on it.

So the general concensus is to go for one of these badboys then? Anyone know what the difference is except the price?!

Not anymore - Pioneer are discontinuing all plasma screens and focusing on LCD's (using Sharp panels), although they will continue to sell Plasma's, they will be using generic panels after the run on the newest 9th Gen series just about to come out...
