converting xr3i inlet to efi..............

ive seen it done to a few rs turbos now,and ive got a xr3i inlet in the garage. I want to fit this to my rsturbo but run it on efi management. What is involved in geting this to work?The efi injectors look like they seal into the injector holes but im sure some mods would be done surely? or is it a case of geting lugs welded on to the maniflod for the fuel rail to bolt on to? finally,what would i need to do regarding throttle body/vacum pipes idle contol valve etc........thanks
you need mounts for the injectors
a efi fly wheel a hole in the block for cranck sensor and a host of other things like ecu and harnes from a frst andall the other bits to
if your going to do that you may aswell go cosworth ecuand it will be alot more mapable

mine is already running efi,just wanted to swap the standard frst inlet for the xr3i unit.Just wanted to know what would be involved????
slight change of subject,what ofset are your wheels LEE-RS?? do they rub at all??

Done this with a RSi inlet, i run a trijekt full mappable injection and converted the big RSi throttle body so I can use a TPS (from a Boxster)




With a 3i inlet, cut off the adaptor plate for the throttle body and weld a plate on that the 2i/FRST throttle body fits. Use a idle control valve that sits on the air filter box (XR2i, RS2k), there's a hose connector on the inlet

Only the first XR2i/XR3i EFI had the remote icv with the two hose connectors, the later ones were screwed onto the inlet. But iirc they still had one connector. When you screw the icv onto the air filter box (like on RS2k) these will also work!

You've got a Escort RS-Turbo engine. Now standard with the crossover pipe and the KE-Jetronic.
You want to convert it to EFI and use a MFI XR3i inlet. Right?

I think ( and correct me if i am wrong) you just rebore the top half of the MFI injector holes to fit the bosch injector in. Thats it. And make a bracket for your ruel rail.
Yes, injector holes in the adaptor plate have been rebored to make the injectors (2i/3i ones came from Weber-Marelli) fit. And he has to mod the inlet so he can use a throttle body with a tps. Some brackets and minor work and the job is done.

i currently have a 1.9 cvh.It was originally built for an escort (mfi).I fitted then fitted the engine into my frst so to do this i had the block drilled for the cps,and fitted an adaptor plate to fit a fiesta efi inlet manifold..my car is running on ofab management.i wanted to convert the xr3i inlet to replace the standard item i have currently on my car.i can work out how to sort the throttlebody.just wanted to know whats involved with fittng the injectors and how to go around sorting the idle control vale,vacum pipes etc.sorry for the confusion......nick
what info do you need?
weld mounts on the inlet for the fuel rail
machine the injector plate for efi injectors
bodge a throttle body on the end or weld a plate on with a common flange like focus rs
change the angle of your intercooler pipe
make a mount that scews under the top half of the manifold for the iscv
make another mount for various vaccum take offs
