im in the middle of changing my engine in my xr3 for a standard rs turbo lump but i dont have a gearbox yet so was going to leave the 4 speed in until i get a propper box in a week or 2 but i wont bother if it's going to last a day so what do you reckon?
also how hard to put just an engine in with the box still in the engine bay or is it easyer to remove the box & fit it all in a oner??

I fitted a block with the gearbox bolted in the other day. it was a total ball ache! It did go and luckily lined up pretty quickly (didnt use a tool). Needed a fair bit of brute force to get in tho (kicked it with a mate, lol)
I wouldnt recommend trying to fit a complete engine in with the box in place
If you take the alternator off and alternator pully off and have a jack under the gearbox to tilt it up they slot piece of piss. Lot easier than trying to swop with gearbox attached.
