Default oil for 2wd rear diff

How much oil and what type of oil does a 2wd rear diff take for a 3dr,also where abouts is the drain plug on the 2wd rear diff? theres 3 bolts (if your looking at diff from back of car) alone bottom of diff,is the drain plug the one in the middle?

As far as I can remember you need to undue all the bolts to drain the old oil out, not sure of the type of oil to use in a 3-door.

They do NOT have a drain plug, just a top up/level hole, when the oil is level with the filler plug on the rear casing about halfway up, the level is correct.
DON'T just use EP oil, use a LSD oil, I use 75W/90 EP LSD oil.

You have to unbolt the diff mount and also the 9 bolts holding the diff cover on.

you can get one of those vacum pumps from a motor factors for a few quid wher the straw part goes all the way in to the bottom of the diff and sucks the old oil into an empty can then swap the pipes round and screw it onto a new bottle and it pumps from the bottle into the diff...

Jamie's diff has a 240Nm Viscous coupling lsd with uprated planet gears

i told him to use 75w/90w fully synthetic

if you have a proper plated diff like girpper /r+d/ZF then the best stuff for that is the 80w/140w fully synthetic oil

you should use a decent 75w/90w in the stanand diff anyway

just filled the gearbox up with the 75/90 fully synthetic too .. bit more expensive than the red water that was in the box before... although the box will probably be dropped off to you son mate for a proper re build.. one that will last more than 100 miles like my last one...
