Default Always tired

Anyone else ever just "always tired"

I work a shit shift pattern and its slowly getting to me, Like this morning I slept through 2 alarms and was late for work!

Could there be something wrong?

I can never get to sleep when I want to, an I've tried sleeping pills but I dont get on to well with them, ie: I either sleep to long on them, Or they just dont work! And I dont like the fact also that something is putting me to sleep

Any suggestions?

Not enough info there mate.

Do you 'binge drink' ?

Do you eat a lot ?

Do you excersise ?

Are you happy with life other than feeling tired ?

You could be aneamic (sp)

Which basiclly means you have an iron deficiency, which will affect your sleep patternstoo.

A simple blood test will tell if you are or not... or alternatively, go and get an iron supplementfrom your chemist, you should start to notice a difference in your sleep after about 7 days!!

Try and read some fiction.

Apparently when we're doing that, we use the same part of our brains that we do when dreaming, so it should help you get to a more relaxed state.

Failing that, stop taking "gear" as that won't be helping

i do shifts too mate.
6-2:30 one week and 12:30 till about 8 the next

on the sunday night after a week of lates when i have to get up at 5 i can never sleep.

i dont feel to tired through out the day really just dont get to sleep very well.

then after about 3 hours sleep on the sunday night and getting up at 5 each day by the end of the week im truely fucked as u just dont get chance to recover.

i started taking a nytol at about 10 on the sunday now. then just sit around and relex and watch a bit of telly in bed and i find i get to sleep ok now.
dunno if its the tablet of mind over matter and my thinking i should sleep better now coz of taking it.

as for being tired in the day, u sure u aint anemic or anything?
maybe take some multivitamins to make sure ur body is getting everything it needs and see how u feel in a week or 2.

Rad, I suffer from this too. I sleep around 7-8 hours per night. I don't smoke, don't drink and don't drink Coffee.

If I got into bed now, I could be asleep in 10 mins without any doubt and generally always 'look' tired. I am a 'stressy' kind of person, so it could be down to that.

I'm shit scared of needles, but I think a blood test will be the next thing for me.

I used to have this, but started taking multi-vitamins and over the course of 6 or so weeks it seems to have almost gone.

Like Maria said i was anemic, lack of iron in the blood - you can get dedicated iron tablets which may help, but seeing as i'm living a some-what hectic life style the multi-vitamins are replacing the nutirents i'm not getting thru certain foods.

Lay of the "gear" you tell us about would be the first step id be taking. Not a dig as you can do what you want, but it probably isn't helping matters?

Otherwise try and relax yourself before you go to bed, have a bath? or lie on the sofa for half an hour thinking/listening to music then bed?

Failing that, put a slow/mellow cd on when you get in bed, could do the trick?

Be more happy. I'm not a fan of self help books but I read a great book recently which has really improved my outlook and made me fitter, healthier, happier at work and a better sleeper. Authentic Happiness by Martin Seligman.

i work shifts and i feel great, i work 6-2 morning shift, 10-6 nightshift and 2-10afternoon shift all in the same week normally 2 of each and 3 of the last, depending on which shift my weekend falls on. Aswell as a quick turnaround shift where i finish at 6am and im back at work 2pm same day.......

i drink a hell of alot of caffiene and like a few beers after my afternoon shift, i dont ever do drugs. Not the healthiest of lifestyles but im getting by. Need to sort it out really...

took me a year or so to get the hang of it but im fine now, though on my days off i sleep in till 10am to catch up on sleep.....
