I know the S1 didn't have it. But problem is now. I am using a smaller radiotor in my mk3 estate. ( cos of the intercooler pipes in the near future)So no water return for my turbo. Is it really needed or can i do without?

 

i ran a couple of t3's and a t34 with als and no water cooling

water cooling isnt essential, its moreso for cooling down when stopped, rather than waiting in your car for the turbo to cool before you switch the engine offf

 

Use a good size oil supply pipe, so it gets plenty of oil cooling, and it should be fine.
