hi,i put a post up already about my box grinding,i thought it was the quickshift but i changed back to the stock gearlever and its not as bad but it is still doing it.im sure it didnt do it before or maybe i never heard it as i have been using it without the rubber gaitor boot.but its quite noticeable so im pretty sure i would have heard it.the noise is worst in fifth and it makes a kind of constsnt grinding noise, but it doesnt sound bad enough to make you want to pull over and have a look to see if its blown itself apart.it changes gear perfectly, doesnt crunch going into gears or coming down them,it doesnt even crunch going into reverse!any ideas or does a rebuid sound likely?cheers, lee
It sounds as though a bearing might be on the way out, but this would be a loud rumbling and whining.
It may be just normal noise as there is a lot going on, but as they say don't fix it until it's broken.

yeah,im going to put the console and the gaitor back on tonight then take it out to see,it seems to be doing it in 3rd,4th and 5th mostly, maybe because the box isnt under much load when in 5th it is doing it the most.if it needs a rebuil is cts the place to go?i think i seen somewhere he rebuilds them for £400,is that right?i dont want an exchange box as i know mine isnt knackered and simply worn out in all areas.cheers, lee
