Default escort cosworth rebuild

hi,
i'm new to the site and have just bought a pretty much standard escort cosworth (k reg, big turbo)
i'm just about to take the car apart and am aiming for around 400bhp mostly road, occasional track car.
i have a 5 grand budget which must also include brakes, suspension and transmission.

any help would be much appreciated.

sorry, it will cost much more than that

engine build alone, even cheap as chips DIY will be £2k

suspension upgrades easily £1k+

brakes will be £1k+

4x4 transmission upgrades range from £3k upwards too

sorry

£5k won't get you the full package mate. The brakes and transmission to sensibly cope with that will take at least £2500, and that's without the engine work needed.

350bhp will make a quick car mate, believe me and is easily acheivable within your £5k budget. Transmission is on the limit mind, but provided you aren't doing too many full bore standing start launches you should get some wear from the 'box.

Default engine spec

no pics yet. on their way soon!!
forgot to say car has mild antilag already. transmission is my main concern. was thinking about launch control aswell.
when you look in the oil filler you can see stud and nuts (bonus)
no idea of engine spec. running grey injectors. not very quick.

400bhp engine anything from £2500 upwards and then your looking at Management aswell

Also Intercooler uprated fuel pump ect ect

Think you need about 10k
And it would be fair to say this man speaks from experience eh Dave ?

if you not sure on the spec but its obv had some work done go take it to a good tuner and have them look over it, their maybe some good potential for more power from a good setting up

If it's on greys then maybe the engine just needs setting up.. Then you can spend your 5k budget on a gearbox and brakes... I can supply both.
