Default Web Developers - Online payment systems question..

I need to review some payment systems for a project i'm working on, more specifically I need the system to take payment and once it has been sucessfully processed then a file is e-mailed to the customer!

It's got me stumped and some searching around hasn't got me any closer!

Anyone ever done/know anything about this? Just some links/infor would be great!

A perfect example would be an music site where you select the MP3, pay for it then it allows you to download it!

Automated!! (I hope!) Looking around though both iTunes music store and Napster run from standalone programs and not online..

Tony, maybe It's actually for a final year project at uni so I thought i'd pick something useful!

Alot of online companys Outsource there payment.
Obviously there are a few who do there own, but we all know Paypal.
Do you actually have to make a working design or is it just written on paper.

check amazon.co.uk under the ebooks section - as you pay for the ebook first and then download it.

It will be a fully working system by Easter

I can/will outsource the payment if there is a way to integrate it into my system!

Amazon e-books works by sending you and email containing a download link after payment, seems an ideal solution, but tyring to find info on how the payment side of thing works is impossible on the amazon site, and it isn't outsourced that I can see

Check out Actinic Catalog, it's the full shebang (shopping cart, the lot) but supports file download upon payment.

phil - it prob is outsourced - i could have got u more info but i dont work there anymore.

tbh most placed outsource this and incorporate the code into their design as it easier than writing all the code yourself.

Ran, thats what I mean - I won't be writing the card authorisation etc myself - That would take over a year alone and the equipment needed etc! Needs to be outsourced for sure, just finding one to help with what I need as it's quite unusual, just about to check out MWF's link though, cheers

Also check out OScommerce which is an opensource system and I'm positive someone will have written a download plug-in for it.

i use OScommerce as well , i am pretty sure the soft ware is free, the expensive part is getting a shopping trolley, most banks want to charge a small fortune to take online payments. most will supply a complete package tho' shopping cart included. cheers nomad
