Default Got a feeling my car's burning oil

Within servicing my car I obviously did an oil change at 69,600 miles. My car started ticking at 77,500 miles so I checked my oil level and the dipstick was dry. I've added 2 litres and that's put the level at just above minimum.

Obviously I know I should check my levels more often and I've neglected it since the service but why am I using this much oil?

I can't see any leaks nor blue smoke from the exhaust.

Any suggestions?

Using oil as it's been neglected maybe.
What kind of nugget goes 8000 miles without checking oil?
Mine hasn't used a drop in 25000 miles, yet I still check it weekly.

The only time I ever put oil in my Focus is when I change it, admittedly she gets the oil dropped and a new filter every 3 months. I do big miles too, check weekly and have never had a problem.

Yeah my previous car never used a drop either.

So what your saying C4llyT is that if I don't pull out the dipstick once in a while my car will choose to drink its lubricant

If you interperate it in that way, just goes to show how this has happened

Handbook says a litre per 1000 miles is normal (it's not but that's another issue) so who in their right mind goes 8000?
Yours has used less than 0.5 litre per 1000 miles, not too terrible.
Maybe running 2 litres below minimum will have that usage go up from now on.
