My lock in my fuel cap has gone stiff and is a struggle to lock, tried wd40 but hasnt helped, does any one know if the lock is changeable or wether i need a new cap.
The fuel caps are renowned for doing this, the lock wears as the fumes from the petrol break down the grease in the lock. You can buy a rebuild kit from ford which will include a new barrel and new discs relevant to your key(which you will need to take)or if you don't want to tackle replacing the discs yourself take it to your local locksmith and he will rebuild it for you for about £20(just replace the discs).Quick fix anyway
Mine was stiff when I bought the car.
You just need to take it apart, clean it and grease it.
There is a circlip on the back, just unclip this and it literally falls apart.
Then just clean it and grease it, try to use a thin light grease like silicone. WD40 is not really any good as it literally dissapears.
Cheers

I noticed the circlip and was very tempted to dismantle it but was afraid it mite all fall into millions of bits and risk not bein able to put cap back on
i just went and got an ew lock from ford and it came with 2 keys
and it made from nylon now so you shouldnt get the same problem,
you will need to get the cap painted to suit your car tho
