remove the 909 tag and put gen ford ID tags off of a 3dr on there....then make it look like it'd had a sill/floor repair in the vin area.
If you were that way inclined of course....
Dan
You can cross over your cars original id if enough parts points are accumulated....perfectly legit.
Does seem odd to have a sunroof tho....and why after taken receivership of your brand new 909 shell and hung your closures and painted it white would you then go and buy an abestos sticker and place it on the slam panel where Ford did...was it really a requirement of motorsport?

it sounds like a shell from the '89 run that ford did of new shells.. they were avaliable in lhd or rhd, and with or without sunroofs, ie 4 different versions, and they were given 909 part numbers. I've got a scan of the original advert somewere if anyones interested..
EDIT...
9093550 rhd sunroof
9093552 rhd non-sunroof (motorsport)
9093553 lhd sunroof
9093551 lhd non-sunroof (motorsport)

Turbo shed - yeah mine was rebuilt into one of those '89 shells following a theft and a smash. The engine no's and various 'special parts' were checked (its an rs500 and you'd be suprised how many numbers are on it elsewhere) after the rebuild. It was all official and DVLA approved etc.
The shells have minor differences like the saph heated front window wire holes for example. I was pleased as I wanted a decent shell with no rot. Suited me fine
No number on the floor either btw.

I got my new tail gate off a guy in Wales who had it on a new unused shell....paid the bargain price of Ł50 (5yrs ago now) for the tail gate suppose i should have asked how much for the whole lot
Yeah Turboshed...all the different major parts of a car carry a number in DVLA's eyes....tot up (ie use enough parts) enough of these numbers and its taken that enough of the original cars parts have been reused to warrant the reuse of its ID.

Taken from VOSA's site:
So you'd need a new shell and some proof of it being a new shell of the same spec (im sure this is where the likes of the rsoc should come to your aid in the case of a RS being kept alive?)....saying that its a 909 shell so dunno what may be different in specs to standard?
Vehicles that have been rebuilt using a mix of new or used parts
In order to retain the original registration mark:
cars and car-derived vans must use:
The original unmodified chassis or unaltered bodyshell (i.e. body and chassis as one unit - monocoque); or a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original supported by evidence from the dealer or manufacturer (e.g. receipt).
And two other major components from the original vehicle - ie suspension (front & back); steering assembly; axles (both); transmission or engine.

Wasn't a problem for my car mate. The 909 sunroof version was effectively the same shell with a few saff updates on the bulkhead and one or two other small details like the towing eye mount. No doors, bonnet or tailgate were supplied of course.
One of my doors and the bonnet / tailgate were from the original car but I've just had to scrap the old (rusty) tailgate though.

Seats have stickers but most fall off, loom labels too. Plastics have a date code system of dots - each time a month passes by they hit another notch in the mould - resulting in an extra dimple in the grid or circle pattern that you see.
I was surprised to discover that even my inlet manifold was marked up to match the head and engine number etc. on the rs500. I am guessing that wasn't the case on 3 doors and can't see anything on my saf???

Some where there will be some sort of marking system. When ever we get another Vauxhall recall or rework we're given the info for that specific componant to check as to whether or not its in production range.....and its the same for all manufacturers. As an example, we've got a steering intermidiate shaft problem on the Corsa D's...but there's only sommot like five out there to be taken as faulty...just five out of all of them! If they didnt stamp batch numbers on them all, then we'd have to change them all lol
