Hi i have got a nice stainless exhaust which is supposed to be off a 4 wd but i have a 2wd car before i offer it up underneath and try to fit it ,can anyone tell me if it will fit or will i have a problem at all fitting it or what problems will arise ,has anyone out there done the same Thanks neil..........

 

I t wont fit mate i may be wrong but the manifolds are different i think and each exhaust is physically different

 

i think the exhaust part are the same but the 2wd and 4wd downpipes are different if that helps

 

It won't fit straight on, but will with a bit of a cut and reweld of the down pipe, there is about 2" difference in height.

Hi thanks all ,so tabetha just a 2 inch cut and shut is about all im in for well that should not be a problem ,i suppose the 4wd downpipe is longer to accomodate the gearbox /diff then .Do you think it is best to cut and shut the down pipe or just try and sorce a 2wd down pipe.thanks neil

 

Cut and shut I would do as it's easier/quicker and cheaper.
I am 100% sure that is what I did on one years ago, as man was using combo of parts.

the 4wd stuff will fit the 2wd car
the 2wd stuff won't fit the 4wd car

there may be a little bit of jiggery pokery involved in fitting it but i ca't think it would need cutting and shutting as esentially it's only going to go a different route to clear the downpipes

that said i fitted a 4wd cossie system to my V6 and it bolted up directly to the 2 pipes so that's what i'm basing my theory on

 

Cheers all cant wait to rid the old std system and get the engine sounding good ..lil bit jiggery pokey bit hammering only joking ..........

 

The 4wd down pipe goes down and round the trans box so not sure if ya just cut 2" off the height then it may hit the gearbox. Not sure what exhaust ya have but if ya check on mongoose site ya can see differance in pipes.

i may be wrong, but due to the 4wd and 2wd running different exhaust manifolds, the turbo sits slightly different, as previously mentioned the 4wd one takes a different rout to clear the transfer box, but as a 2wd doesnt have one is should go on with a bit of work

 

Yeah thanks everyone ,had a look at mongoose website via collins website got 2 exhaust pics one 2wd and 4x4 gonna stdy it a bit .

 

What about a 2wd shell running a 4wd exhaust manifold then guys?

I fitted a 4x4 magnex to a standard 3dr and it fitted a treat with no mods at all required.

 

I fitted a 4x4 mongoose exhaust to my 3 dr and it catches the bottom of the gearbox . If you look at them closley you will notice that the 2wd exhaust keeps to the right hand side of the gearbox as the 4x4 goes to the left hand side of the gearbox .
All i did to stop it hitting the gearbox was take a big hammer to it and flattened it about half an inch at the gearbox . Problem solved .
