Default Engine Parts and Dishwashers (talk to me)

I know a few of you have used dishwasher for engine parts, what are the results like.

Was it just small parts you put in, or are we talking engine blocks, heads e.t.c.

We have a disused one at work at the moment still plumbed in with a 80 degree wash and 85 degree rinse cycle.

Justw ondering is it time to clean up some old engine bits or is it a big no no

Thats uncanny... we've finally arrived in the 21st centuary and bought a dishwasher, and one of the first thing I said to my wife was right now I can start cleaning some engine bits...

But I was worried it was one of these urban myths...

So it's maybe not such a good idea in the family dishwasher then mate?

i put an inlet, fuel rail and a few other bits through my mums and it came out sparkly clean but there was a thin film of oxidisation on it within a day or so.

would be careful what cleaning agents and stuff you use.
