I just bought an inner front driveshaft joint from Ford and it came with just the outer shell, the spring and full of grease, no rollers (the important part) and the original one is sealed so you cannot take the guts out of it and the new one isn't. IS this right do they come like this, I wish now I had bought a used shaft complete. Difficult to know these things when you are on the other side of the pond.

 

from what i understand the inner joint is just that, just the metal bit that goes into the diff/indermetiadte shaft speedo housing

if you want the rest you've got to order the whole shaft

i know that you can remove the bit with the 3 balls on it and retro fit it as i've just send that lot to someone off of here

how bad is the damage to the joint that you are missing though as i'm sure mike rainbird's emporium of fancy ford bits has them for sale

 

The joint ran out of grease through a loose clip around the gaiter, so I stopped using it as soon as I realized what had happened. I bought the joint assuming it would come with all the bits like an outer CV joint does and now think I might have bought the bit that doesn't wear

You can buy the Tripode oart of the joint over here, if you know the size and number of internal splines where it fits on the shaft. Not sure about on that side of the pond though sorry..

Most of the drive train is GNK anyhow, i took off the front propshaft and it has GKN in the flange casting.. Maybe worth a try...
