Default Reyland sierra

Not out 2 cause any offence but just bought redline 2 see the feature on the reyland sierra and noticed it was for sale for 40k!
Now anybody who knows anything knows that for what it cost 2 build its cheep but do cars like this rearly sell!
Just thinking u would have 2 be fairly well of 2 buy a 40k car 2 use as a toy! And u would have 2 be a ford nut 2 buy a 40k sierra over a radical or a porka or any other fast newer track toy! i mean ive seen nice group a cossys up for 35k and not sell! So how many people r out there that fits that bill!
Hope there is no chance it will get broken as it rearly is a iconic car!

O and renton and lee loving the idear of two identical reyland coloured 20vt elises! And all the best with the sierra!

I think its more a case of "if you give me 40k for the car you can have it, if not ill keep it"

i.e. everything has a price, for sale or not for sale.

thats what i got from reading the feature aswell but i was just asking does any modded car 2 this spec and cost (not just the reyland sierra) ever get sold for anywere near there build cost or do the owners ither eventualy take a big loss on the car of break it?
Ive lost count of the amount of feature cars ive seen then seeing them vanish of the face of the earth!

I dare say if it was genuinely for sale it would be priced a bit more competitively.

You have a point that not many modified cosworths etc.. sell for that kind of money, purely because few people who have that kind of money want what is essentially an old ford.

The reyland sierra being the car that it is may be easier to move on at big money as its a bit more desirable to some people than any other sierra of the same spec though, i guess.

i don't think the owner needs the money,he has a fleet of fast cars already! so i'm sure hes not desperate to sell the car!

as for the price...like stated already,i think its a price the owner suggested he MAY accept for him to agree to part with the car.

Regarding your other point about the builder(of any hi spec cossie) trying to recoup thier costs in the sale price or do they just break them......i've seen more hi spec cossies being broken these days.....

what gets me is that people still buy 20k grp4 mk2 escort bare shells

ive even seen mk1 escorts go for near on 35k no bother

but when it comes to 600bhp 3dr cossies, saphs & escort cossies they get broken up

& 300+ bhp rs turbo's for 5 - 6k nobody wants to know

funny old world

its a genuinely insanely fast car, you wouldnt get 1/2 way close to the spec for 40k id imagine, but at the end of the day, the logbook says ford sierra, and the average human brain cant put 40k and ford sierra together i would recon it is actually worth it, but very much doubt it will sell/sell for that much.

main issue is it will always be "lees old car" or "the reyland sierra" which would piss me off big time.

also, 75% of the fun from cars like this is in the building, the driving it is just a bonus. in my eyes anyway.

all reasons why it probably wont go for that imo, regardless of the fact it is worth it. imo.

I've pretty much decided on getting an Audi Exige built by Ginger shouty motorsport.

He doesn't do a quite as good as job as Martoon at building stuff but GSM's Labour rates of £0.00 per hour are going to be alot less painful! :top

The engine will come from Mart though and I'm sure he will have alot of input as well, so if he is cool with me painting in his Livery then I will do

either that or a Caterham or an Atom.. can't decide. Whatever happens its going to be small, light, fast and enormous fun

Have you been in/driven an atom? Its 1 car i'd love to own purely because its as close to the rush of a bike on 4 wheels that i can imagine! the acceleration must be immense

which model?

the 300bhp supercharged one must be an absolute hoot! Thing is tho they arent cheap just to have sitting as a toy!
Surely they'd be reliable as fook tho as they are a honda engine and light as fook so not gonna eat tyres/brakes etc etc.

How quick on track do you reckon? Compared to the sierra etc.

i would love an atom, but they are too pricey for me to have as a toy

looking at building one of these instead

http://www.sdrsportscars.co.uk/index.html

powered by a v-twin bike engine (rotax) from the aprilia rsv

back wheels need to be bigger diameter imo though

Hi Burt, I don't mind paying the £35 an hour as long as YOU are in charge and are properly supervising Shouty Ginger man
