I think its only a help incase you believe you may have bought a dodgy policy. The main reason behind the site is: Raise public awareness that the police can access information on your insurance details on the spot.
It is only UK insurers on there, a lot of people can be insured legally with non uk insurers and will be SEEN as uninsured by the plod, not one single coutry in the eu(other than uk) has supplied any details.

Well I thought it was interesting enough even if it is of limited use.
The strange thing I found is that 2 of my cars (Escort and Focus) come up with make and model info but the third (Vectra) just says it is on the database.
