Default turbo question

I got a t34 turbo second hand not so long ago i havent fitted it yet, how much play should there be in the shaft?

You should have a bit, never remember if its up & down or in & out that is ok.

I'm sure it's slightly in & out NOT up & down but I'm sure someone will confirm.

A slight up down is ok, so long as slight, in/out is a no no.
