Default Poorly Fiesta 96 1250 Any ideas?

Well I have bought a project car very cheap. Its a nice tidy 5dr fiesta with p/steering and the 1.25 16v lump. Its only done 70k and had fsh up to 51k. It had a new cat last jan and has only done 8k since.

The problem is it feels down on power very lumpy/hesitant and you ocassionally get some white smoke which only seems to come over 3.5, 4000rpm. I recon its valve stems or seals?

any ideas people

These engines dont normally suffer with valve stem oil seal problem like the CVH engine did, coil failure is very common

Check your air filter and clean the MAF.

Ok I am going to do the plugs, Oil, Oil filter, Air filter anyway. Its has been sat up for abot 6 weeks but it hasnt got any worse on a 80 trip back down the motorway at 70-80.

I do think its the headgasket as it not eating coolant and there no bubbing in the header tank.

The air box was a abit dirty inside but the filter was not to bad (have seen worse) the MAF is the sensor monitoring the air flow by the airbox isnt it?
