Default weird escos troubles

hi all

i have a weird problem with my escos,

it only revs up to 4000 rpm and only givs about 0.5 bar off boost, what can this be?

sometimes i goes like it should, but after 2 or 3 times i keeps hanging up at 4000 rpm again, its a big turbo cos.

things i was thinking about that could be wrong are

-ECU
-Chip( getting another one this week)
-actuator
-vacuum leak?

do you have any ideas? or had this yourself?

regards

roy.

ECU

we had also the same problem on our own car
change the ecu and all things go back as normal
change the whole ecu, not only the chip!

cheers,

It sounds like limp home mode to me!!!

One of the sensors is probably knackered, it defaults to a 4000 rpm rev limit on a fault.

I had this also, it was the 2 main loom connections under the vent, cut these out, replaced the corroded wires with new wire soldered it up and away it went.

I would try swapping sensors first as the ecu is SUPPOSED to do that fault if one of the sensors is down.

Have you got a mate nearby with a working cossie? Get him round and do some swapping!!

Roy, since this ecu is in limp home mode, you must be able to read one (or more) troublecodes. So, first thing is to get the codes read. A simple led-tester will do that, but you can also use a star-tester. Then you know which circuit (doesn't have to be the sensor itself, can be wiring loom also) is causing the problems. Saves you a lot of time searching and trying.
Other way of testing is using a break-out-box and checking the signals with a DVOM.
