A few questions about my stage 3 cosworth in an e30 BMW!
E30 Cosworth:
I have just purchased an BMW e30 with a stage three Cosworth engine fitted – 360bhp!
This is a truly brilliant car – very nippy to say the least.
Questions:
1. Can I fit an electronic boost controller? I always had one fitted in my skyline and it was nice because if a friend/ girlfriend were driving the car I could set the boost to a more sensible value. This would not cause problems with the mapping?
2. Does the header tank need to have a cap which releases pressure as a specific value? Many of the ones on e-bay seem not to have pressure release valves.
3. I have no rev gauge, one wan never fitted. What kit do I need to buy to make this work? – It has a Cosworth gearbox fitted.

You do not need an Electronic boost controller.
What you can do is connect a switch in the wiring to the waste gate regulating valve. By switching it off the boost will drop to it's lowest setting.
I always used a switch with a key.
Would it cause problems with the mapping? Possible, but not likely.
However, you can check this by disconnecting the waste gate regulating valve and take it for a test-drive.
