Default Very heavy Escort Cosworth Clutch hard to get gears

I've got a Escort Cosworth big turbo and the clutch is stupidly heavy. I thought that it might have been the clutch itself so replaced the AP one for a Helix jobbie. It's still the same.
It feels like I have to push my foot through the floor to be able to get it into gear, even then it's still really hard to put into gear. It gets even worse when it's hot.
I've already replaced the cable and still no change. Any ideas before I get a hydralic conversion by Reyland???? And any info on doing the conversion???
Cheers!

It was an original motorcraft cable from Ford. The ratchet seemed to be OK when I changed the cable.

sounds to me like you need a group n cluch ratchet (black one not a white one) as these have more clutch travel.
