Alex,
And more rigid shell on the Sapphire.

4x4 for going REALLY quick (above 300bhp) and 2wd for fun (see CWs video following the 2wd Sapph around Coombe).

I would say 3dr but saffs are cheaper to buy and cheaper to fix if you crash it on track - also more aerodynamic, but saying that it dont have the presence of a 3dr

Ran,
He's asking about which makes a better track car, not how good you look going down the shops .

Lee,
Actually it is the other way round . The 3-door has MUCH better geometry on the front (for track use) than a Sapphire, hence why on mine I fitted 3-door TCAs and hubs... . It's just that the 3-door being a hatch is about as rigid as Phil's cock at the thought of a naked woman .

Absolutely 100% sure . The Sapphire front end was changed back to a more "road friendly" set-up due to it being aimed at "suits", whereas the 3-dr was track optimised for homologation purposes.

This is why everyone wants 3-dr TCAs and hubs and why Sean developed the TCA "knuckles" to try and replicate the 3-dr set up .

So mike what are you saying?

It's just that the 3-door being a hatch is about as rigid as Phil's cock at the thought of a naked woman
So its rock hard?Your contradicting yourself again

Porkie for you to say a Sapphire looks pony when you yourself drive about in a car with about as much colour coordination as Jasons Donovans multi coloured coat,is quite staggering!

Does the shorter wheelbase on the escort make it a better track car? Can you feel the difference?

Lee,
That's okay - is that all you want to know, as Harvey needs to get back to the dyno..... .

The Escort is very good on track due to it's positive down force, traction and steering feel.

No, Longer wheelbase is better as it adds stability.

Phil, its a TRACK car... its meant to look mad. I like subtle road cars

3 doors look better than saffs and are much more motorsport looking in my eyes...

Actually you are right... god my car looks poo

Which is GOOD on the road, but BAD on the track where you want the car to be quick to turn in, so YES the short wheel base IS good for TRACK .

3drs might be a little less stiff in design as there is a good few years and a small invention called CAD being introduced to Ford

Oi!

2wd saff all day for me.

Cheap - soooooo much cheaper to repair than either a 3door or Esc Cos if you prang it.

Cheap - in 2wd format, you don't have the gearbox reliability nonsense to contend with.

More fun - if you're at Bedford in February, I'll show ya

That's all I got.............
