Here's another instalment from Croft RSOC day last month. This one is a little longer (40mb) and mainly features a Blue Sapphire, though if you look closely at the beginning there is an XR4i which was always comically sideways throughout the day There are other cars in there too.
Bloody good video and the driving is very cool either!!! Got to admit i'd be backing off behind him a bit unless I had the power to sail past!! Knowing first hand what Saphs can be like sideways! (Snappier than a croc in a Steve Irwin documentary!)
Whats the spec on the 205 then? I'm building a red 1.9 up for track use at the moment! Be nice to know what sort of power that is running (certainly isn't standard!! )
Nope it's not Martin! The engine is a standard Mi16 so about 150-160bhp.
I best get my cheque book out then
What brakes/suspension/tyres set up mate???
Brakes a bigger 283mm discs with the standard calipers on spacer brackets. I was running Yellowstuff pads that day, quite a good pad though they did wear faster than I expected but I didn't pay the full price for them and don't think I would say they are worth Ł70 or so.
It's lowered on Jamex front springs and reset rear torsion bar at the back.
I was running mixed road tyres at Croft which made it a bit unbalanced which was why it was a bit edgy through the Clark curves, not sure if you can see it on the video, I would like to see some footage of mine going through there if anyone has any as the back end was very twitchy. The rear tyres were brand new F1s (not ideal dry tyre particularly when at full treaddepth) and the fronts were well worn bridgstones so it turned in too nervously at high speed at times! and the back was pretty floaty.
I never tracked mine as an 1.9 8v, I put the Mi16 engine in '99 and started using it on trackdays from then. I'd say it's a lot better as the 8v runs out of puff at high revs (well mine did).
How much different would you say the Mi lump is compared to the 1.9?? Alot faster, or just a bit?
should maybe try looking for a gti-6 engine mate.supposed to be much better than the mi
saying that the pug in the video maybe dispells that myth coz its fooking flying
