Not as easy as that
What type do you want? What size do you want? What do you want to watch on it? (as in SD-TV, HD-TV, SD-DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, games consoles SD/HD, etc) What stuff do you want to plug into it and how?

IMO
Unless you want to go for 1080p compliant (no channels yet broadcast it as yet, so I personally wouldn't)
You can't go wrond with the Panasonic Viera TX-32LXD70 for around the £700 mark................. 8500:1 contrast ration, great picture quality, well built, 2 HDMI connections................ and £300 too spare

Right, here's what I know....
40" is typically the limit for LCD panels, however Philips do a 47" LCD that is simply the bollocks - does cost £1500-£1700 tho
For SD viewing (Sky, Freeview, DVD, etc) then at this size, plasma is your best bet.
However, For HD stuff, LCD comes into it's own with a good HD source (HD-DVD player, BluRay player etc) LCD also better with PC than a plasma will be. Downside is at this size, LCD won't be the best for SD stuff like Sky/Freeview (Freeview espcially as the bit rates are lower than Sky, for the time being at least). DVD will still look great mind, specially when connected via component in progressive. HD-DVD will piss all over it mind
I'd probably go for either a 40" or 42" LCD myself, mainly cos it will be better with a PC than plasma will. To be honest, HD wise, at this size there's little in it between LCD and Plasma....
Did any of that help? Probably not
