No you dont need a maram shaft...most modern shafts will handle up to 950 c a maram will handle around 200 degrees more.
Only really needed on a rally car/track car...on the road you'd never melt the shaft IMO....To be safe suck it and see with an EGT gauge Your find a T4 shafted will be circa 2k
