Default New car where do i stand

we got a new fiat stilo last year the car is now one year old, but when it was new the brakes didn't feel right so it went back in to be looked at, was told the servo and master cyilnder was renewed, and that was the prob aweek later almost hit a car NO BRAKES in it went again, and told they fixed it, then last week the misses came to a mini roundabout hit the brakes feck all happend and almost hit a bloody big lorry, the computer in the car was saying ABS FAILURE
took the car back and told them we dont want it back, but they said they WILL sort it, now how can we trust the thing with the wife and 3 kids in it every day

should i get my money back or a new car or am i dreaming ????

Take all your receipts and letters and dates you went to get it fixed and a record of what they've said, your warranty, bill of sale etc, to the Citizens Advice bureau, get some [almost] proper advice

Tell them you'll drive it to their showroom and do an emergency stop by their stock unless they refund you!

Seriously the car isn't fit for purpose and you have every right to demand a refund. It's not worth the risk with your family in it mate. Hope you get it sorted.

I doubt very much you are entitled to a brand new car at a year old.

The best offer you're likely to get is for the dealer to buy it back off you.

The price will make you weep though!

Try Fiats customer care department. Good Luck!

Why not see if they will find you another 1 yr old car from a fiat dealer and do a direct swap if your not happy with this car.

Is it a common problem with other Stilo's or just a repeat fault with yours?

The dealer will do little to help as its nothing to do with them as such, they will no doubt just forward you to Fiat UK.
Its only them (Fiat UK) that would possibly replace the car but only after exhausting all other avenues such as sending there technicians etc etc.

I'm having similar probs with my 172 clio its been at the dealers nearly 2 months now and they have still to fix it. There changing black boxes like there going out of fashion.
I refused to accept mine back until they will give me a written guarantee that the wipers will work.

im having the same prob with the missus new fezzy. had it 10 months and its had 2 water pumps disk and pads and now im getting a whurring noise when turning corners, which they now say is the rim protectors on the tyres so im changing the tyres at the weekend and if its still there its going back again also just got a fault showing EAC FAIL

had a few excuses for the whuring noise like her air freshner rubing the dash lmfao

my mate at work had one of these, brakes kept failing, he'd press the pedle and nothing would happen for about 5 secs

pretty dodgey like, he kept kickin off an complain and in the end he got his money back

so just keep blagging them and threaten em with watchdog and the papers and all that lot

good luck bud

well just to give ya all a bit of bad news

a waranty aint a garantee, all they have to do by the warantee is repair of replace the faulty parts

but then in this day and age, for the amount the cars worth to fiat they prob would replace the car incase a serious accident happens and then they will have to pay

good luck either way, keep bugging em and hey will drop the ball at some point and then ya got em

just had even better news they cant find a new car in the same model so the only one we could have had 17's and full leather@ no extra cost to us

this could be good for keeping an RS as i was thinking of selling the wifes car and my S2 and getting just the one car i.e 2005 scoob or an evo8 but i just cant get losing 4k ayear aroung in my head SO she can keep the new car and im on the hunt next year for a nice escort cozzy

The above highlighted statement is incorrect, you sale of contract is with the dealer not Renault, when you pay ur deposit its made payable to the dealer not the car manufacturer, it is therefore those people who have to sort this problem out. Speak to a solicitor on this matter, u are entitled to a full refund or an exchange of motor if your car is less than six months old as the law deems this fault was likely there at the time of sale.
