driving home today and the car wanted to die... almost like no fuel or spark. a distinct smell of petrol in car but no leak led me to believe no spark. anyway it doesnt always happen, but when it does no matter where my foot is on the trottle it makes no difference. but clears its self after a few seconds.... any ideas what it could be? also
sometimes on idle it will just rev to about 4k out of the blue.
i thought maybe ISCV but surely that wouldnt afect anything when im driving... would it? i realy have no idea, but i need to use the car. i would be grateful for anyhelp asap.
thanx in advance

wouldn't be ISCV.
sounds like possibly it's overfuelling intermittently from a sensor fault.
it would be helpful if you told us what car you've got mate.
if it's a cossie, it's possibly the coolant temperature sensor (with blue connector at the rear of the inlet manifold).
give other folk a bit longer to reply, or post up in the tech section

cheers. (as title ) its a cossie yes, 2wd saph to be precise. ok i will give that a try, any other help would still be good though. also what is the sensor on the exhaust manifold side at the front? cheers
sorry, didn't get the title.
sensor at front of head on exhaust side is just water temp for gauge in dash - the ecu has a separate one.
i would recomend that you join up as a gold member. you will then have access to an online manual for the YB engine that has all the information you need regarding how te whole management system works, what sensors do what, where they are, what they should read, etc.
it will cost you less than the price of one sensor that you may otherwise neddlessly replace.
