Default cones along road?

Anyone know the legalities on this?

Just gone outside to find a load of cones lined along the road where my car and bike are parked. Now I've had nothing through the door to tell me works are commmencing etc so I've stacked them up and fucked them off. (I don't like them hanging around over night cos chavs have a habit of lobbing them around)

I'm guessing they are hoping I'll move my car & bike 2moro (not happening) and that people looking to park in there after I've gone will be pit off by the cones. Anyone know if I can get in trouble for leaving the car there even if they want to do something to the road?

The missus is whinging about me moving the cones already so I might have to put them back in a mo for a quiet life

I've put them back now as I didn't need the earache lol

It goes for quite a distance down the road. Fuck it, I've had nothing to say it's happening so they can kiss my arse if they think I'm moving the car and the bike unless they want to pay for parking for the whole day

I've had a car lifted in the past through similar.
I initialy thought it had been stolen, in its place were trafffic cones.
I called the police to report the car missing to be told "Your car is in a secure storeage compound, we were asked to have it lifted" as well as my own car another 6-8cars had also been moved. No fines etc, just moved.

If you didn't get a letter saying what they were doing I can't see how you're supposed to know? Especially if you just moved the cones and didn't steal them.

I'd park the car normally and put the cones round it.

Exactly whats happened Katie lol

Not as bad as what a load of piss heads did in the summer, they robbed a road closed sign and put it at the start of my road. I wondered why it was so quiet until I saw it there

Sheps no point mate, you're not allowed to park there after 8am anyways (as you well know )

depending on what company is doing the works they can have the car lifted and in some cases they make the car owner pay for the lifting service. only know as i used to working in traffic management and have seen it alot .

but also depends what sort of cones they are . are them normal road cones orange? or are they yellow samller no parking cones .

if there normal road cones i dont mean sh*t. mate just leave the car there . but you do have a big comeback if you havn't been letter dropped.

fuck that, you might leave them there and what happens if they come along with the tarmac machine or white line painter? your rides are going to be covered in crap and it would be your fault for moving the cones............

Id ring the council and ask if they know anything

the notice of road works will be,in your local papers,at the town hall, and on telegraph poles/street lights on the road, they do not have to come and tell you face to face, thats what the public notices are for.

Thats all well and good, but what if you dont read newspapers, dont do regular visits to the town hall, and dont stop to read every notice on the street lights? Then your buggered!

not really, the cones on the road are a big give away, only an idiot would leave their car inside road works, the contractors wont care when they arrive, the car could easily get damaged and you wouldnt have a leg to stand on,or any proof.

my car was parked there before they put the cones down and I've not been told anything so it stays there (unless they can find me another space to park both the car and bike)

you dont have much experience with road work contractors do you my friend.do you really think they will care,or give a flying fuck about your car and bike?theve seen it all before and then some, your only causing yourself agro, your bike will probly get pushed over and your car dragged out of the way by a jcb, these lads are there to do a job then move on to the next one, they dont pussyfoot around, dont say you were not warned.

p.s,perhaps your missus has a point.

you just keep thinking that mate!

best advice anyone will give you is shift your vehicles,it will only be for a day or two,so wheres the harm in that?

if not you only have your own problems to blame!!

Its a bit different down here.

I should think if they found a car in the way, they would have half the council out
