i think you can use a efi block in a mfi aswell

Thats right. But MFI/Carb'd engines won't work with the EFI

For the MK2 - yes. When you want to use a EFI engine, you'll have to change the head. Bottom ends are the same except from CPS hole on EFI's.

i got a efi engine and box for h reg 3i in my varandah, been there 3 yrs, was running fine , needs anew home!!
