i was lucky with my old cos got a gearbox specialist near me and he runs 2 racing cossies and he knows exactly what needs doing to a t5 got mine rebuilt for Ł250 cash and it was perfect. be careful as you dont wana throw good money at a wankered gearbox at least if you get yours rebuilt you know its good.

New 3rd, 4th synchros, new 5th gear and new forks and an overhaul (bearings i'd assume?) Ł495 from a gearbox place up my way...

You can have uprates done as well, as there are over 34 different T5's!!
I use GREASED LIGHTNING in mine helps enormously.
My local gearbox places charges Ł300 full overhaul, drive in drive out service, I wouldn't risk s/h unless you KNOW it's good.

fault you have is common, it is the 3rd /4th gear shift plates you will require 3 shift plates and a 4th gear synchro ring, it is caused by heavy and abusive gear changing.if it is just forth it can be done without stripping the box,now they are old 3rd gear synchro is often damaged by the broken shit plates,to replace this you will need to strip the box getting 5th gear off can often destroy it and they don't make them any more .I would advise due to their age that they are FULLY rebuilt you cannot Fully rebuild a box for 250 including labour it is obvious that hardly any parts were changed ,so a repaired box then
