Default Gear ratio's for the Bara straight cut box.

Because of Dave's (YUM) high speed run it was realised that the Bara box might have a short 5th gear. I had been told that all the ratio's were standard, this is not the case.

I asked Bara for the tooth count on ALL the gears so that I could work it out myself. Here are the results:

1st 3.6
2nd 2.13
3rd 1.38
4th 1.00
5th 0.863

Alternative 5th gear is .812

Fair play for Martin for checking it all out properly.

So your not going to tell us the MPH per 1000rpm with your tyre size then with the old and the new ratio

Steve.

Thanks for confirming that Martin, its as I suspected on the day, so frustrating when it was assumed to be standard, Mark looked at me as if it was my problem that Dave was bouncing on the limiter. .

Assuming 225/40 x 18 tyres, 8010rpm would equal 203.4mph with the taller fifth .

With the taller fifth, he only needs to pull 7747rpm to do the speed that would make YUM the fastest non-nitros powered Cossie .
