Hi all,
Does anyone know what would be involved in fitting a 4x4 adjustable steering column into a 2wd?
Has anyone done or seen this done?
I would think i just need the column itself and the cowling that surrounds it.
Are the indicator controls etc the same between the two models?
Any info appreciated.
Thanks
Mart.

the lower dash panel and the clock surround are also different
there is also a metal "strap" that goes from the upper column mount to the inner A post, and the studs in the upper column mount are different
stalks are the same

ok thanks guys,
the car is in pieces at the mo so no rush to get this done. I will have a look around some scrap yards for some adjustable columns/fittings.
Cheers

you may not be able to get away without changing the top dash too
and if that's the case you might as well change the whole lot over
to do this though the centre cosole sits further forward on the newer cars so the bolts at the bottom don't line up properly and you'd also need to change over the ecu brackets etc
it's easy if you have all the parts, but you need ALL the parts, even the a piller posts are different as well as the kick panels and the aws warning bracketry
worth it if you are going for the 92 spec swoopy dash but be aware also that you'll need a top of the range dash from either a ghia or an xr as the aws stack isn't there in the lower models and it's glued plastic rather than screwed panel as in the earlier cars
the swoopy dash also has a different set of clocks in it which are smaller to fit into the smaller appetue, and be care when you try to remove the surround as it's clipped into place on the left hand vent, and this normall breaks, leaving you with a problem to fix it
