Default Whats the acceptable length of time to own a car?

Strange question I know, but I am selling a S1 and the amount of folk who assume there is something wrong with it cos I've only had it a few months is quite baffling.

I very rarely keep a car for longer than six months and personally see nothing strange in this. I am still looking for the perfect car for me.

Is anyone else like me (at least in this respect)

I normally keep a car for a year, last few I've kept 6 months though.

I had to get shot of my R32 golf though, I hated it. That lasted about 12 weeks lolol

people do tend to prefer buying enthusiasts-type cars who've owned for at least a year, the longer the better really.

if the owner before you owned it a long time, emphasise that to prospective buyers!

Thing is,not many people buy a s1 for everyday, so you would expect an enthusiast to have owned it, and had it a while

Thanks goodness it's not just me .

In fact, I'm now beginning to think that people who keep cars for a longish length of time are just plain odd

Well on a average after getting the paperwork from dvla our 16i changed hand's roughly about every 4 months to 12 month's one guy owned her 7 year's tho but she's had 15 previous owners and i must admit we were abit iffy when buying as we thought there was something wrong with the car as the guy we got it off had only had it 7 month's and not even drove it but all was good there was nothing wrong with the car at all only abit of hidden rot

i always think if a car hasn't been owned long a older car like a series one i think has the owner bought it and found it's rotten or something and just trying to get rid , and im sure lot's of other ppl will think like me and that's most likly why your been asked

Im with your arch on this one i had an escort cos for a year an rs 500 for a year a s1 for about 8 months and now a cossie powered mk1 escort 3 months but like you i tend to change them get bored i dont think it matters what car you have you get bored.I have a saab 900 had it nearly 3 years now.I just dont like the negative comments you get when you sell them so quick just because you dont keep them does not mean you dont like them. Sometimes its a buzz factor watching you car do really well on ebay or making a few quick and then getting all excited about buying the next car.I am tempted to sell mine but i know i will miss this one
