Default Escort mk2 Cosworth project

my name is Pieter and i'm from belgium.

two years ago i bought a ford escort mk2. My frist interests were to put a 2.0 pinto engine into the car. After some months, someone said that he had a 2.0 16V turbo cosworth engine for sale. So i decide to buy it, and make it a bit extreem.

Now I'm still buying stuff for the car. But i can let you see some pictures from my car and engine.

a picture from the car.

Some few months later i bought another escort mk2. This was especialy for all the parts on that car.

Sperr diff. rollcage , 2000 pinto engine. ....

But because i decided to buy that cosworth engine he isn't needed anymore.

Afther some months i've started my project. Some pictures.

Some pictures from the engine.

T5 :

I still don't have pictures from my axle but i've got a 2300 V6 capri axle.
If you have some information that can help me it's always welcome !

Greats Pieter

Sorry if my english isn't that good !

i've got a question,

an axle from a capri 2.3 V6 will it hould against the power of a cosworth turbo engine ? Or what do you use as axle?

It should be a "Atlas" axle (has a bolted on rear diff cover), If it is its worth getting it overhauled and maybe the slippers uprated at the same time then you should be safe for anything upto at least 400bhp

Nice mk2 if the axle is a atlas axle, it will be fine, theres lots of people who run standard atlas axles with cosworth power,a lsd is all you need if it does not have one

hello,

I will show a picture from my capri 2.3 V6 axle. Normally this should be a Atlas Axle.

3.75 would that be good for the cosworth engine?

Thx for helping me !

That looks like a koln axle,if it is its weaker than a atlas axle
The Koln should measure (approx) 48.5" across the casing, and 53" overall (across wheel mounting faces).

If it's a capri Atlas, then the casing will be 52" and the overall width around 56.5".

So you mean that köln axle isn't the same as ATLAS axle. Because i know that a babyaxle is needed when you doesn't use arches or x-pack kit.
