The saff's stg 3 ish mate. Its on wasted spark too, I can get 35mpg if I keep it off boost, but that defeats the object of having a cossie
I'd really like an S1, but I reckon a good one would cost a bomb. I'm only looking to spend about 2k tops and smoke about in it for a year or two

188bhp, 200lb/ft, 31mpg 300 miles to about £40-£45, obviously less if you cane it evrywhere.
ok to live with everyday, miss the power steering though when you park it.

I had a very very good one as my every day driver.
It was fine- did 40k in 2 years.
It was chipped and ran 16 psi max, spax suspension and mongoose exhaust.
I drove it very hard and was disapointed if it didn't go "off the clock" each time I drove it.
Broke 2 gearboxes - but that was down to how hard I drive.
Was absolutely fine... but you need to buy a good one.
Make sure you look VERY hard at any RST and if you think sub 2.5k is acceptable as a price for an everyday motor - think again.

Good point..
Needs to be run on super really.. I used to get 200 miles max to a tank
As above, get a good 'un & you'll be ok.
A few sensible mods, & a nice reliable 180-190 bhp in such a light car is quick enough to be fun, and 30ish mpg ain't too bad
But...... I do 120+ miles a day, and when I HAD to use it daily, a couple of weeks in the S2 each day I'd had enough. Got tired of worrying about it when parked up, the lack of PAS, heavy clutch etc. Even the usual buzz blowing away the constant stream of boy racers, became a chore.
