Default MK5 Escort RWD Conversion Questions

Right ive got so many ideas for my project its untrue but after being messed about on a duratec engine ive seen a escort cosworth rear end for a reasonable price (diff, wishbones, brakes etc) now this will be perfect as it will convert my drums to discs and i can do a RWD conversion..

Now ill be using the Cosworth MT75 gearbox. What engines will this bolt up to apart from the cosworth YB?

Also how do i go about tunneling me FWD escort to suit the rwd gearbox?

Any help will be appriciated, this is my first major car project and i want to do it right

Don't bother.

They made an Escort Cosworth specifically so you don't have to!

Are you going RWD or 4X4( )?

If you're going RWD, use a cossie T5 box, they're stronger.
As for the tunnel go and buy a shitty old scrap sierra and cut the floor out of it, that'll make life a lot easier than fabbing it all from scratch.

If you're not too keen on doing the fab work yourself, speak to Andrew Gallacher, he's doing the biz on the Focus me and a mate are building

i think its going to be done, wont be using a YB to going to go zetec. to save a bit of cash. there realy is no point doing a rep with a yb engine lol

Id like to use a duratec engine but the gearbox's wont mate up

2.0 zetec turbo it is then am i correct in thinking these do fit together?

Personally I'd pick a better project.

At 18, it'll be a money pit. Just buy a better car!

im not changing my mind to involved now, i only paid Ł2,500 for my base car which has plenty of genuine cosworth parts so its going to make a great car. my rep was sold for Ł9k to the guy i got it off before it got into bad shape.

so does the zetec engine bolt upto the rwd gearbox? im sure someone on here has done it?
