Escort RS Turbo s2 - 1986 D reg.
I bought this car about 9 months ago as a cheap run-around untill i got my cossy.
Im going to be very honest in the description of this car as i dont want anyone buying it from me thinking this is a great/good RST... it is NOT!
A cheap run-around is exactly what it is, it is road legal, Mot and the tax has just run out. It is not a great RST by any stretch of the imagination, in fact i would class it as FAIR condition. It has had alot of owners and undoubtably been hacked around for most of its 20 year life. The car is not chipped. It has a Thatcham immobiliser but i do not have a certificate for it. The ABS has been removed at some point.
The good bits:
1990 spec front bumper & boot spoiler.
Smoked rear lenses and clear front indicators.
Recaros are in V.GOOD condition, there is a small fag burn in the back seat.
4x VIRTUALLY NEW tyres.
K&N cone filter.
Uprated coil.
Stainless exhaust.
Silicone hoses.
Recent turbo, nothing wrong with this at all.
Recent battery, plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm.
The car is lowered but i dont know what shocks and springs it has.
Raid steering wheel.
The bad bits:
Large(ish) dent in the front wing. (see pics)
Tracking is out of alignment.
Crack in the windscreen.
Gearbox is a bit whiney and the selector is rather sloppy, all gears work though.
The head is a bit tappety too but it doesnt use much oil or anything so i'd say the engine is generally ok.
The car seems to take on abit of water when it rains and i suspect that the sunroof run-offs might leak.
It had seen plenty of welding in its time as you'd expect from a well used Ford of this era. (wings, batterytray, floor, etc.)
Overall, the car looks good as you can see from the pictures and has not let me down once in the time ive had it.
As i have said though, it has been used and (probably) abused for much of its life so dont expect a minter!!
If you are after a cheap run-around, as i was, then this is a good little car to do it in but i must stress this not a lovely RST, is does exactly what it says on the tin!!
Its worth what im asking for it in parts so the price is not negotiable.
