check the valves buy either a leak down test or whip the cylinder head off.....TBH mate its likely to have done some internal damage to the engine if the belts snapped so best to whip the head off and see how much damage.....hopefuly its onyl a few bent valves and a couple of hundred to fix.

Guaranteed that you have bent valves as the cvh is prone for it if the belt snaps How fast were you going when it went??

i bet it was in first pulling away woth foot down!

dumping the clutch dosent do anything to help really.
the pistons would have bent the valves and in worse case the valves could have destroyed the pistons. you need to take the head off, change all the broken/bent valves, and mabye the pistons but check if the pistons are okay first.

then youll need to have the head skimmed before you put it all back together with a new head gasket.

then time the engine and thats all.

Worth the repair I would say! These motors go for well more than 500 fella. Else ya can swap it with me for an Escy GTi !! LOL!

Repair isnt as costly if you do the work yourself

you would bend the valves if the car was just sat idling let alone driving.

CVh's are a piece of piss to work on just rip the head off and lap some valves in. If you're really on a budget you could go down the scrapper and whip some valves out, but new would be the best option.

If you were going fast enough it could cause all kinds of damage.......but you'd have to be seriously going some to really wreck the engine.

cheapest and easiest option, just a get a second hand head and new gasket and slap it back together.

Head off, new valves, head bolts and gaskets, head back on. Easy.

Gasket set is about £40 and valves are about £4 ish each. Cambelt is about £15 from Ford.

You can have it done in an afternoon.

If you're a beginner at this stuff, it will take longer so don't rush and ask for as much advice as you can. If you're unsure about swapping valves over, ask your local engine machineist to do it for you (and fit new valve stem oil seals).
