Default V6 Mk1 Escort????

Hi all, ive got a standard Mk1 Mexico and am considering selling/swapping for a 1969 2 door V6 Escort. Can anybody tell me if Ford actually did a V6? If so, how can i find out if its genuine? I would appreciate any feedback / comments.
Cheers
Andy

I think it will be the 2.3 V6 Granada engine.

I doubt it is original but plenty of people have fitted the Essex and Colgne V6s. If you have an proper mk 1 Mexico I would hang on to that. A V6 may give an Esocrt some BHP and Torque but it will kill the handling and add 100kg+ to the weight.

If it is a genuine mk1 mexico, it would probably fetch more putting it back to standard ?
Ford themselves never did a V6, but there were certainly companies that did V6 conversions on fords with the V6, though I don't think on a escort mostly cortina's.

Cheers guys, yeah my Mex is an original so i spose i should really hang onto it, well apart from a cage, buckets and its Le Mans Green, not its original yellow. The reason i was considering the V6 is because its quick and on the road, unlike mine. I de-striped mine 3 yrs ago ready for a bit of body work and full respray (which it didnt really need) and its been in my garage ever since. Now its developed an electrical fault effecting dash lights & instruments and it wont start, but i suppose thats to be expected after 3 yrs of neglect. So when this 180brake, huge spec V6 came along i was tempted, still am a bit (even with mates threatening to never talk to me again if i sell the Mex)lol. If it turned out to be a SuperSpeed V6, any idea what it would be worth?
Cheers

For power per pound at that sort of level you will not beat a pinto with a V6, the cologne is a joke, essex is nice but still too gutless.
Get a modded pinto in there or better still a yb lump.
