Just been to view a saph. (1988 RWD)
Standard spec, 118k,

It had 10 mouths m.o.t. and no tax

And it had these problems-
The head gasket was blown
The engine wouldn't start
It is regiestered with hpi as a total loss Insurance wright off
The drivers side rear arch was rotten
Both rear doors and bonnet were the wrong colour
There was no v5
The gearbox was leaking oil as was the diff
The interior was in average condtion
The heater matrix was buggered and bypassed

The good bits
Appart for the arch it was soild
there was a fair amout of history
had a couple of shinny bits
had a 2000nile old engine.

I'll tell you what i offered him for it after i have had a couple of replys just wanna see if i was about right????

it seems like realistically you could only salvage the mechanicals unless you want a q plate car mate so as above not much more than a grand for me, after i had checked the damage with the head off, it might all be shot to shit

 

if it had no v5.....check what cat it was a right off as........if its a b your fooked


2000 mile engine with a blown headgasket... i would be checking the quality of the rebuild personnally

Why would anyone spend a lot of money rebuilding the engine on a shit box ????

Oh they didnt they threw the engine back together with second hand shite , thats why the gasket blew after 2,000 miles

Think about it

headgaskets gone , gearbox and diff are spewing oil out , the shell is rough ..WHF are you buying

I would put money on it that this car will be bought by somone who will break it on e/bay , they will strip and clean all the shitty parts and sell them as " was working perfectly before i broke it " only breaking as i need a deposit for a house ,,oh ,,and my mrs is expecting out 432nd baby , i just dont use it anymore and need the garage space

i was looking for a bit of a shed to bring back to life. the hpi showed the total loss to of happened in 1992 and the repair thats been done is really good because i can see any signs of reapired damage anyway. unless its been reshelled????

matey has owned it for 4 years so i do find it strange that there is no log book.

you can see that the block is brand new for machining marks ect, but i think the quilitly of the re build is poo for 1 the h/g is fucked and 2 there is silicon holding on just about everything.

as my mate said the cars only worth cash because its got a cosworth engine but even that doesn't work!!

Well when you think a good shell with no recorded damage is worth a grand without an engine, and your gonna have to rebuild this engine anyway....
