Default F.A.O Stavros any other drifty people.

What's the best rear wheel drive car i can get to learn to drift in? I've been looking for ages and can't find anything that i dont have to drive halfway across the uk for or that people want silly money for bags of shite.

I've been looking for the usual beemers, volvos etc. But can't find anything cheap and close by. I've been toying with the idea of just importing something already done for about 4 or 5 grand from powervehicles or ghost dancer but figure its a total waste of money at the moment as i'd be a complete novice and the car would be totally wasted on me and more than likely get binned on my first late night mission.

What would I be best to look for? And do you know of anything for sale that you can vouch for? I don't mind driving to buy something if i know it isnt going to be a complete waste of time. I would of had your sierra off you if i hadnt been a day late in spotting the ad on driftworks.

Cheers.

Dont spend 4 or 5 grand, thats 5 times too much!

Get something cheap to learn in that you dont care about and just get in as much seat time as you can.

200sx with a welded diff would be a good option, or even a carlton.

DONT spend lots of money.

Any old crap.

Sierra, E30, 300 series Volvo, etc etc.

All easy gottable for under 500notes. I recently sold a mint spec drifty Sierra with tons of spare alloys and tyres for 450quid.

Remove all the weight, weld the diff, fit a bucket seat, chop the springs if you want, remove the locking button on the handbrake, drive it.

sierras aint the best, but they cheap and replacable if you bin it

200sx is a very good car to learn in

dpeneds how much you wanna spend, but IMO dont buy anything for more than 1k when your learning as you WILL bin it

fuck spending a grand, and fuck an S13, 500quid tops IMO

S12s are dogwank, a half decent half sorted 2litre sierra is better IMO

spend the 4-5k once you actually know u want to, not as a first time learner car, best way to learn is have a car you have absolutley no regard for its wellbeing and drive the tits off it, seat time counts more than any engine/car spec.

That's the thing. I don't want to spend alot but Norwich has got to be one of the shitest places to buy anything cheap and rear wheel drive. I've got the money sat here to buy the car but can't find anything, well anything that people dont want silly money for.

Why not spend 300 quid at santapod for the day in their drift car first and see if you like it before spunking 4 grand, if you cant be bothered to buy a shitter first.

525 ok, but nowt special, 24valver or? If 24valve or 530+ id consider it if cheap.
They handle fantastic, much better than most lighter cars.

Stuff comes up constantly, personally id buy something already drifty-fied to save you work/money, like i said, sold my sierra which was ideal for 450 with i think 12 alloys and tyres...

yeah i saw that on driftworks but by the time i'd seen it you'd already sold it. I would of had that off you had i seen it earlier.

its a 24 valve but the car is up at Ł825 so still not exactly cheap.

1.8s are toss, and considering 2litres cost no more, fuck buying that, not even that cheap.

unless you can get a nice 2litre for 300 tops, or a drifty spec one for 500 tops, you may as well buy Paz's BMW for 800.

a kadett in road form is only 705kg though and you are losing over 120kg with the engine and box then there is the seats etc and most kit cars weigh over 500kg so bike engine not as stupid as first seems

you will lose 150kg tops even if you strip the interior, and even a Hyabusa engine has only 105lbft, stuff like Fireblades have less than 70.

even bike engined kit cars are hard work to keep in the fun zone, if you want the car for entertainment rather than winning some kind of race, id stick with something less screaming.

an e30 is actually what i've been looking for. An E30 touring is what i'd like ideally but pretty much anything will do at the moment as theyres so little about anywhere near me.. problem is all the ones i've been to look at have been rubbish. either total wank bags or ridiculously over priced.

Stavros, have you seen that 525 on driftworks in person before? know anything at all about it etc?

Dont know the car, but know the owner well, and as well as being a shithot (well, he competes in EDC) driver, he honest, so if he says its good, its good.

still stupid for trying to break traction with a gay 80lbft of torque or whatever, and dont forget the weight of you and your fuel.

Plus by the time you cage it and stuff, it wont will be heaveir than you thnik.
