how accurate are road angels?
Very accurate providing you hold the speed for a while.
They will always tell you a speed which is slightly higher than you are actually going though due to the way the innaccuracies work with them.

Euan,
The easy way to do it is to give me the ratio of your fifth gear, the tyre sizes you are running on the rear and then I can come up with a figure to compare with your road angel
. Obviously it won't be exact, but it will give you something to look at

Nice!
Was that on the usual test track Euan?
I can rememebr on the Roadpilot in Davies car acceletating faster in 3rd gear than the GPS was reading, as in the GPS was playing catch up for a while.

Good going !
On the subject of top speeds aren't M3's supposed to be limited ? E46's that is ?
Saturday night we just popped to our local test track and whilst my mates now not so Slowline pulled past 180 the M3 was showing 166 mph !
Surely they should be limited to 155mph ?
Without doubt they won't of got there as quick as Euans must though
Whats the new gearbox like Euan ? is it dogleg ?

Picture yourself travelling in a straight line.
Put a dot where you are every second.
Add some innacuracy to move the dot in a random direction by a small margin.
If it goes straight forward or back, it comes out in the wash, it looks like one reading is quicker and the next is slower, but if the dot goes off the line you are travelling in (it will) then it will ALWAYS result in an average increase in distance travelled, therefore makingyour speed look higher than it is.
correct me if l am wrong though but as long as you have a sufficient Horizantal dilution of position and vertical dilution of position value then it should be pretty dam accurate should it not, l only know from parking boats with gps !

Hi Euan the Road Angle updates its speed every 0.8 seconds.
Also at Woodbridge last year it was giving out the same speed reading as the Racelogic Driftbox within 1mph.
I use the Road Angle as my Speedo, the only problem is, if it drops down to 2 satalites (like up in the Highlands here) it tends to display randon numbers!
