I have all the power steering sorted for my escort using a CorsaB power steering unit.

I am looking to find out some information on the ECU options...

either a purchased item or a modded OEM item...

Does anyone have any information on this ?

 

Dingy i know Stu [The original] Has electric power steering on his MK2 might be worth Pming him. Not sure what kit he has though.

Yep, thats the simplest way.

It uses a variable resistor to set up a variable speed signal in the correct format for the column to understand, so by adjusting the resistance you can make it think its still in a corsa and doing various different speeds to give various different levels of assist.

 

I have seen the variable resistior item...looks like the easiest mod....

But are there any that work on the actual speed, as in have a speed sensor somewhere on the car ?

It will actually make it easier to do .

The steering (having driven it) is too slow and heavy to react in my opinion, and as I said to Steve at the time - power steering will MAKE the car .

Steve obviously has no problems, as for some reason he has a huge right arm . Someone did mention an extensive porn collection .

Who told you that - I didn't even come CLOSE, it's just when hanging the back out, it was very hard to counter-steer due to the weight of the steering . I still did it no bother, but it didn't feel pleasant to do, and as I said to you, if it had have stepped out at a really big angle, it's too heavy (IMO) to aid quick recovery .

No, as soon as I realised how lame slow the steering was, I didn't push it as hard as I would have liked on the corners, as I knew I didn't have enough experience of the car to catch it if it went big time .
